St. Peter Chanel introduction

Protomartyr and Patron Saint of Oceania, Father Peter Chanel joined the Society of Mary in 1831. In 1837, he was in the party of the first missionaries dispatched to Western Oceania. Brutally murdered a few years later in Futuna, Peter Chanel was beatified in 1889. He was canonized in Rome on June 12, 1954.
