Canonization

Peter Chanel's remains were disinterred and wrapped in tapa cloth for their return to Europe. Later, his relics were sent back to Oceania.

In 1889, Peter Chanel was beatified. On June 12, 1954 he was canonized in Rome. His feast day is celebrated on April 28. These photographs show the ceremony in Rome.
