Peter Chanel's Early Life

Pierre Louis Marie Chanel, the fifth of eight children, was born on July 12, 1803 in a rural area near the village of Cuet, France. His early education was sporadic, but he felt called to religious life at a young age and was ordained a priest on July 15, 1827. He spent his first few years as priest in education, where he displayed patience and kindness.
