More than a century later, improved communication revolutionized how US Marist schools and churches dealt with mandatory and elective closures. The Society of Mary General House in Rome quarantined early, serving as a model for other houses.

In Washington, DC, social distancing was implemented for masses at Marist College. Notre Dame Preparatory & Marist Academy (Pontiac, MI) and Marist School (Atlanta, GA) transitioned to online learning in March, using social media as a way to engage with students and families, as well as honor graduating seniors.
